As of December 18, 2017, Tubac currently has a Type 6 Engine assigned to the Thomas Fire in CA.  They report rapid rates of spread coupled with extreme fire behavior make for a challenging assignment to protect structures and natural resources. For the 2017 Fire Season our Staff responded to 49 out of District wildland fires, not to mention responses within District. Tubac fire personnel have supported fire suppression with Type 6 Engines (brush trucks), water tenders, medical personnel coupled with their medical kits and medical UTV, along with logistical support and overhead.  Even though the days are shorter and cooler along with recent December rains doesn't mean that there couldn't be a wildfire close to home.   All fire agencies are asking residents to firewise their homes before a wildfire strikes your neighborhood.
