Tubac Fire

Station 1

Busiest Fire Station Within the Tubac Fire District is Located in Tubac

This station was built almost 50 years ago and no longer serves the needs of the firefighters and administrative staff housed at the station. This webpage is intended to give the public an understanding of the history of the fire station and the needs assessment developed this past year to justify construction of a new fire station and administration office. After reading the materials presented on this web page, we hope you will agree with us that a new fire station is long overdue in Tubac and a much-needed community asset. Please forward any comments or questions directly to Fire Chief Cheryl Horvath, chorvath@tubacfire.org

This section includes a timeline of the history of Station #1 in Tubac. Original building drawings are no longer available due to the age of the structure so we have developed an updated site plan. Also included in this section are newspaper articles written from 2017 and 2018 documenting some of the building deficiencies.

Over the past eight months District staff has worked with an architectural firm to develop a needs assessment outlining the current building deficiencies, and a program statement for a fire station and administration office complex to replace the current station/office space. We are including a timeline of events since September, 2019 of the supporting material presented to the Tubac Fire District fire board, presentations given to board members, minutes from board meetings, and all other relevant information regarding the need to replace Station #1.
